Most Wanted Foods
revised 1/19/19
This page is intended to include photos and info about foods and supplements that I believe have been beneficial to my healthier lifestyle.
If I find new items, I intend to add them to the tail end of this document.
If you have questions, suggestions or concerns about items on My Most Wanted List, please let me know on Facebook.
Over the years, my focus has been on counting Sat. Fat, Protein. I also make sure that the first food ingredient other than water in all carbs (cereal, crackers, cookies, pasta, rice, chips) is the word WHOLE. WHOLE grains help boost our fiber and maintain our metabolism because WHOLE grains to do not increase blood sugar as much as non WHOLE grains. All flour, rice and corn that is not WHOLE, are likely to cause blood sugar to rise and lead to insulin imbalance and insulin spikes that dramatically reduce our metabolism. Chicory Root as the first ingredient in many Fiber One, granola and snack bars is also an acceptable first ingredient as it is very high in fiber and it does not spike blood sugar or cause insulin imbalance as much as a non WHOLE grain.
I constantly read food ingredient labels looking for Trans Fat and avoiding anything Hydrogenated. Labeling laws allow food products to contain a significant amount of Trans Fat per serving and still claim ZERO Trans Fat. Avoiding Trans Fat gets trickier as some food makers are changing the names of Trans Fats to Monoglycerides and Diglycerides to avoid showing the word Hydrogenated in the ingredients. The website below, provides extensive info about Hydrogenated Oils.

I recently also started avoiding High Fructose Corn Syrup especially near the beginning of the ingredient list.
I have seldom counted calories, cholesterol, carbs or sodium. I have never counted calories of fruit or veggies, fresh or packed in own juice. Some items on MMW (My Most Wanted) list may have high amounts of sodium especially the Asian meals.
To the best of my knowledge, all the info on My Most Wanted List is accurate. Food makers do occasionally modify ingredients in foods. I have found several foods that were high in Trans Fat a few years ago and now claim to have Zero Trans Fat and show no sign of Hydrogenated items in the ingredients label.
To control portions we try to keep measuring scoops equal to the serving size on the Nutrition Label in some cereals and snacks.
To the best of my knowledge, all of the foods displayed in this MMW list contain Zero Trans Fat.
Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my Web Site.
