YELLOW-CONSUME WITH CAUTION FOODS
revised 1/19/19
The yellow food group is basically foods that I let myself have small amounts of, or allow myself to have if my weight and waistline are currently going in the right direction. If my weight is up a few pounds or my belt is a little tight then I back off of these foods some.
MEXICAN RESTAURANT FOOD I always get chicken. Steak may be ok. No ground beef. Nachos if my weight is down. Most restaurant chips are deep fried. Burritos or Quesadillas if my weight is up. Fajitas with no tortillas or with lettuce wraps are a good way to minimize calories and carbs.
CHICKEN PIZZA If I get a Buffalo Chicken or Chicken Veggie pizza, my weight seems to maintain pretty well.
LIGHT RANCH Satisfies my craving for Ranch Dressing, a fraction of the fat.
SHREDDED CHEESE Shredded cheese is usually rather high in Sat Fat
BEEF JERKY High protein, low fat, a little high in sodium and a little pricey.
PEPPER-JACK CHEESE A little lower in fat than typical sliced cheeses.
STEAK Usually some Sat Fat. Very high in Protein and Iron.
RED WINE Some research indicates that red wine has some health benefits over most other alcoholic beverages.
MARGARITAS All frozen tropical cocktails should probably be on Red page, very high in sugar, but Margaritas are soooo good.
LIGHT ICE CREAM(NATURAL) Sometimes on weekends I will allow myself a small amount of light ice cream, preferably all natural. Sometimes add strawberries, bananas, and or a little Kashi Original cereal.
SOME CHEESE DIPS Some are very low in Sat fat. I read labels closely. I dip baked chips or pretzels.
WALMART BRANDS Many are zero Trans Fat. But I read the ingredients. We recently bought Wal Mart brand peanut butter Fiber One imitation. Listed zero Trans Fat but the ingredients included fully hydrogenated, partially hydrogenated and hydrogenated items. I have read that anything hydrogenated is Trans Fat. We avoid trans fat like the plague.
OSCAR MAYER FULLY COOKED BACON Very lean low fat and convenient. Though it is already cooked, I will brown a few slices to add the taste of bacon to an omelet or burger. Or I put a slice or two in a pan of green beans. Satisfies my craving for the taste of a little bacon without doing a lot of damage.
WALMART TRAIL MIX Low fat, low sugar, low cost. I occasionally add a ¼ cup to a bowl of cereal.
LIGHT BEER Special occasions only.
TACO BELL Many items very low Sat Fat.
SUBWAY BREAKFAST SANDWICHES Several low Sat Fat items.
EGG MC MUFFIN 5g. Sat Fat. Better than many fast food sandwiches, especially anything with sausage.
BRATS Cooked well done on the grill.
