About Me
1/19/19
Back in late August 2010 I finally gave in and decided to use Facebook. I am usually very slow to conform to modern ways, especially if it involves technology, computers, or typing. Until a few years ago, I was a hunt and peck one finger typer. My Wife and kids got me a Mavis Beacon teaches typing CD for Christmas and HALLELUJAH, with God’s help I taught myself to type.
Back on July 4th, 2010, one of our American Soldiers spoke at our Church. The extraordinary young man’s name was Josh Bleill. He is from the Greenfield area, just outside of Indianapolis, In. On Oct. 15, 2006, while serving as a Marine in Iraq, the Humvee he was patrolling in was hit by a roadside bomb. In the explosion, two Marines died and Josh had multiple serious injuries including the loss of both of his legs. Since his long and difficult recovery at Walter Reed Medical Center, Josh has let his faith, family and positive attitude help him turn the tragedy into a Story that he uses to inspire others. Bleill received a Purple Heart and he is now employed as a Community Spokesperson for the Indianapolis Colts. During his talk at our Church, Josh told a story that one day he realized that if Tony Dungy was in a stadium full of tens of thousands of people, mostly strangers, and they were asked if they new that Tony was a Christian, almost every single hand in the place would go up. Josh said that he believed that if he was in a room with 50 of his friends and asked the same question, that he wasn’t sure if half the hands would go up.
I thought to myself, hey I resemble that remark. A few days later as I was praying, I asked God what he would like me to do to bless him. Josh’s story came to mind and I realize that I needed to do something to make my Christian faith more apparent. I decided that modern technology might be just the tool to help me do that so I became a Facebooker. I know the Bible tells me in JOHN 13 and 1PETER 2 that I should not need to tell people that I am Christian. They should be able to see by my actions and in how I treat others and how I live my day to day life that I am a Christ Follower. The Bible also tells me in 1 SAMUEL 16 and MATTHEW 23 that regardless of how I look on the outside and what I call myself, God will judge me by how I look on the inside, by where my heart is.
A few years ago I was obese. Since then, by the grace of God I have learned to live a healthier, happier lifestyle. For years I have wanted to share my story of success. Not to brag, for I know I did not do it on my own, apart from Him I can do nothing. But to try to help others have the success that I have had. So, with the help of God and my Daughter, I did a Blog. (How's that for a high tech word from an outdated old man). On my Blog I intended to share my beliefs, methods and habits that have helped me become Spiritually fuller and about 55 pounds lighter and stay that way for over 10 years. Since then I decided I also wanted to share some of my Christian Beliefs. A Blog was really not going to be very user friendly for such a large amount of material. So, with the help of God and my Daughter we have decided to try to do a Web Site. Wow! Three months ago I was not even on Facebook. Since then I have become a Facebooker, a Blogger and a Weebler HA! HA!
To learn more about my weight loss and Christian Beliefs journeys, I invite you to check out the other pages of my Website.
Regardless of whether you are interested in my stories or beliefs, I encourage all of you to purchase and read Josh Bleill’s book, “One Step At A Time”. His story is truly inspirational and as an American Hero, he deserves our support. Heck, buy an extra copy and give it to some one for Christmas.
Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my Web Site.
